Philadelphia Union II continued play in MLS NEXT Pro with a 2-1 victory against Inter Miami CF II on Saturday afternoon at DRV PNK Stadium. Forward Nelson Pierre scored two goals and goalkeeper Brooks Thompson recorded seven saves to help Union II secure all three points from the match.
To begin the first half, Inter Miami CF II opened scoring in the 10th minute with Kobi Thomas’ first goal of the season. Union II maintained offensive pressure on Inter Miami CF II with nine shots in the first half, including four by Nelson Pierre, and were able to connect during first-half stoppage time with a strike by Nelson Pierre from the center of the box to the bottom right of the goal, evening the score at 1-1.
Second-half play then began with Nelson Pierre’s second goal of the match with a shot from very close range in the 50th minute.
Forward Nelson Pierre scored his first two career MLS NEXT Pro goals. With the win, Union II are now in third place in the Eastern Conference with 12 points.
