Philadelphia Union Academy’s U13 and U14 continued their winning ways this season completing the sweep against a strong New York Red Bulls Academy team.
The U13 group fought a close battle right until the final whistle blew against the Red Bulls this past Saturday. The team was able to create a variety of chances in attacking third of the field but Cavan Sullivan was able to convert on the way to the Union’s 1-0 win. Sullivan received a great ball behind the Red Bulls back line and was able to put a great goal past the opposing keeper.
The U14’s rode a stellar defensive performance to a 2-0 victory this weekend against a dynamic Red Bulls group that made the Union earn their victory. Playing out of a 4-4-2 diamond the team won the midfield battle on the day leading to Emerson Kekesi and Stefan Chirila providing the goals for the Union. Daniel Elliot, Andrew Craig, and Neil Pierre all came up with big plays on the defensive end for the Union to help ensure another clean sheet.
The Philadelphia Union Academy U12 team bounced back in a big way this past weekend against FC Delco. The first 40 minutes featured both teams battling hard and struggling to assert dominance in the midfield. After FC Delco scored the opening goal the Union notched two of their own before finishing the half 3-2. FC Delco opened the second half strong tying the game 3-3 before the Union opened the flood gates and scored five unanswered to claim an 8-3 victory. A well-balanced scoring effort was led by Willyam Ferreira and Declan Lannon each notching a brace, while Aleksander Przybylski, Adam Cifra, and Jax Novador all added one. An FC Delco own goal rounded out the scoring on the day for the Union.
The U13 and U14 sides have concluded league play and will next take to the field in a pair of club friendly’s against NYCFC on December 5th.
