Philadelphia Union Academy U17s and U15s hosted rival D.C. United at the Power Training Complex on Saturday afternoon with the Boys in Blue emerging unbeaten.
The U17s used strong starts in each half to earn a 4-0 victory over their rivals to the south. Jake Spadafora got the Boys in Blue off on the front foot converting on the counter attack in the opening minutes of the match.
The second half saw yet another quick goal with the Union scoring off a strong set piece. That momentum didn’t stop as the club racked up three second-half goals en route to a standout win.
The U15s showcased the club’s quick attack turning a spectacular save on one end of the pitch into a goal in the attacking end. After the diving save, the Boys in Blue pushed forward and engaged the outside backs in the attack with a cross from the right wing landing with Jaden Francis for the 1-0 lead.
Decon Decorte made it 2-0 with a long-range strike that you’ll have to see to believe above.
D.C. battled back and made adjustments in the final half with two goals to end the match in a 2-2 stalemate.
