A trio of Independence Blue Cross Achievement Unlocks took place at the opening whistle of tonight's Philadelphia Union home contest against St. Louis CITY SC.

At kick off, midfielder Indiana Vassilev earned his first start for the Boys in Blue as they battled the Western Conference foe for the first time in club history.

The former St. Louis CITY SC man had featured as a second-half substitute in the past three contests of the Union and even notched his first Union assist against the New England Revolution on March 8th.

Vassilev was acquired by the Union on February 21st from St. Louis CITY SC in exchange for $400,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM), $600,000 in 2026 GAM, and up to an additional $250,000 if certain performance-based metrics are met. Additionally, CITY SC will receive a future sell-on and trade percentage. Vassilev set a career high with four goals during the 2024 season, across all competitions, and ranked tied for second on CITY in assists (4) and fourth in regular season appearances (29).
