The first Independence Blue Cross Achievement Unlocked of 2024 took place on Saturday night as Philadelphia Union opened its 2024 Major League Soccer slate against Chicago Fire FC.
Goalkeeper Oliver Semmle earned his Union and league debut with his start in goal. The German keeper became the 15th keeper in club history to start a league match. Semmle made two saves in the match, including a clutch stop on Tom Barlow to keep the Boys in Blue within striking range for an equalizer.
