Defender Kai Wagner registered the latest Independence Blue Cross Achievement Unlocked on Saturday night, as Philadelphia Union defeated Charlotte FC, 2-0.
Wagner was credited with the secondary assist on the Union's opening goal in the 4th minute. The visitors came out of their shell looking to grow into the match and then saw the 2022 Union’s back to front attack. Kai Wagner sent a massive volley over the defense that connected with Sergio Santos in stride. Cutting into the box, the Brazilian sent a hard cross in front of goal where Julian Carranza smashed it home for his first Union goal.
The assist was Wagner's 20th helper in MLS play and put him in a special class amongst Union players. Wagner joins teammate Alejandro Bedoya along with former Union players Jamiro Monteiro, Ilsinho, Haris Medunjanin, Sebastien Le Toux and Cristian Maidana as the only players to hit 20 assists for the Boys in Blue.
