Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake has been nominated for CONCACAF’s Male Goalkeeper of the Year award, the club and CONCACAF announced. Voting will be open until 5 p.m. on Jan. 18.
Blake joined the Union in 2014 as the No. 1 overall pick in MLS SuperDraft, becoming the first goalkeeper to claim the No. 1 spot in MLS history. Blake finished the 2015 season with a 2-3-1 record in MLS play with two shutouts and 1.50 goals against average. On Aug. 29, 2015, Blake broke the franchise record for single-game saves with 10 against the New England Revolution.
In 2015 alone, Blake was called up five times for the Jamaican National Team. He was a member of the Reggae Boyz for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where Jamaica finished runners-up behind Mexico. He was called up and started in the World Cup Qualifiers against Honduras in September of last year and for the international friendly against South Korea in October.
