Blake wears Captain's Armband for Reggae Boyz

Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake has been away from the club for the past week, but for good reason.

The 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year was called in by the Jamaican Federation to compete in a friendly for the Reggae Boyz against Antigua over the weekend.

For Blake, he started for in net for Jamaica earning his 31st career cap. The MLS All-Star was also tasked with wearing the Captain’s Armband for the Reggae Boyz and played the full 90 minutes against Antigua. Being the captain for his National Team isn’t a new experience for Blake.

This was the seventh time in his career that Blake has worn the armband, and has been the captain for Jamaica in seven of the last eight matches he's appeared in.

In those last eight total matches, Blake has allowed just five goals while earning three shutouts, including two against world power Mexico in the 2017 Gold Cup last summer.

Blake will return stateside and join the Union as the group returns to MLS action this week when they travel to Colorado take on the Rapids on Saturday. Kick-off for this inter-conference clash is set for 9 p.m. ET and will be televised on the Live Well Network.
