Box Score | Philadelphia Union 3, Club Tijuana 1

Philadelphia Union played Club Tijuana on Saturday night at Subaru Park, winning 3-1. With the win, the Union secured their first victory of group play for the 20243 Leagues Cup. Nicolás Diaz conceded a penalty kick and was given a straight red card for fouling Julian Carranza in the 19th minute. Daniel Gazdag converted the penalty kick for the Union to make it 1-0. Julian Carranza scored in the 26th minute following a corner to extend the lead. Carlos González scored one minute into the second half for Club Tijuana to make it 2-1. A penalty kick was conceded by Olivier Mbaizo in the 49th minute. Carlos González took the penalty kick for Club Tijuana, but it was saved by Andre Blake. Kevin Balanta fouled Mikael Uhre in the 56th minute and received Club Tijuana’s second red card of the match to play with nine men for the remainder of the game. Carranza scored his second goal of the game for the Union in the 71st minute to make the score 3-1.

The Union will return to Subaru Park on Wednesday, July 26th (7:30 p.m. ET / Apple TV), where they will face Querétaro F.C. in their second game of group play for the 2023 Leagues Cup.
