Philadelphia Union will celebrate Homegrown midfielder Derrick Jones' 21st birthday at the team's Home Opener on March 3 versus New England Revolution.
The midfielder played in 12 matches last season for the Boys in Blue, starting in eight of them. Jones impressed the coaching staff tremendously in preseason last year and earned his start in the club’s 2017 season opener against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Jones was also recognized as being the first ever Union player to complete the “Path to the Pros," where he appeared in games for the Union Academy, Steel FC and the First Team.
With 2018 in the picture now, Jones will look to have another successful season with the First Team.
Jonesy will kick off the season in style and hopefully bring home the cake (and eat it too). Fans can purchase tickets for the Home Opener, presented by Oliver Heating and Cooling, by clicking here.
