While Saturday’s match was already circled on Union fans calendars, Head Coach Jim Curtin added another reason on Thursday, announcing that forward Mikael Uhre would play against CF Montreal on Saturday afternoon.
“He’ll be ready no question about it. He’s had a good week of training with the group and he is still getting used to his team mates but he’s shown really well in training. He has some speed to stretch the defense and he’s shown some really good movement in the box and scored a lot of goals this week. He has minimal training sessions with the group but his body has responded well so I think it’s safe to say he’ll play a role this weekend’s match one way or the other that is for sure.”
Uhre has been training daily at the Power Training Complex since he arrived in the City of Brotherly Love on Friday night. While Uhre didn't play in the Union's 2022 opener against Minnesota United FC, he did get his first taste of Subaru Park and the Union faithful when he was introduced prior to kick off against Minnesota United FC.
Fans can catch Uhre’s Philadelphia Union debut on Saturday, March 5th, with kick off in Montreal set for at 4 p.m. ET. You can catch the match on either PHL17 or PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
With the forward in line to play, fans won’t want to miss his Subaru Park debut next weekend when the Boys in Blue welcome the San Jose Earthquakes on March 12th. Tickets for the match can be purchased online by clicking here.
