FINAL WHISTLE: Takeaways from Union's 3-0 loss against Colorado Rapids, presented by Xfinity

Real vs. Colorado Rapids

Youth Movement

Philadelphia Union made history tonight in Commerce City, Colorado. The Union had the youngest starting backline in MLS history in their Starting XI on Saturday night. With the starts of Matt Real (18-years-old), Auston Trusty (19-years-old), Jack Elliott (22-years-old) and Keegan Rosenberry (24-years-old) the Union stayed true to their vision by playing their young guns.

Path to the Pros Complete

Union Homegrown product Matt Real completed his path to the pros with his first MLS start of his career on Saturday. Real joins Derrick Jones, Auston Trusty and Anthony Fontana as Union Homegrown products who have completed the Path to the Pros by earning minutes for the Union Academy, Bethlehem Steel FC and the Union First Team. During the match, Real logged 75 minutes in his first start â€”making his biggest impact in the 44th minute of play to keep Colorado off the scoresheet in the first half.

Ilsinho Sighting

Brazilian midfielder Ilsinho made his 2018 debut on Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Ilsinho had been sidelined to start the 2018 campaign due to an injury suffered in preseason in Clearwater, Florida. Ilsinho logged 26 minutes off the bench as a 64th minute sub and registered a shot in the contest against the Rapids.
