U.S. Soccer has announced the nominees for the 2023 Chipotle Young Male Player of the Year award, and Philadelphia Union’s own Jack McGlynn is up for the honor. The homegrown was named a finalist alongside Nimfasha Berchimas, Gianluca Busio, Benjamín Cremaschi, and Kevin Paredes.
McGlynn had an outstanding 2023 Major League Soccer season for the Philadelphia Union, playing 1863 minutes through 30 games. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder started 18 of those matches, impressing with a team-high 85.8% passing success rate, plus two goals and three assists through the end of the team's campaign.
The award marks yet another occasion in which McGlynn's talent has been recognized on the national stage this year.
In November, McGlynn was also part of a Union Homegrown duo called up by U.S. Men’s Olympic Soccer Team Head Coach Marko Mitrović for the team's training camp in Spain. He and defender Nate Harriel participated in the team's preparation for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
