After guiding the Philadelphia Union to the top of the Eastern Conference, Jim Curtin has been named the MLS Coach of the Week.
Curtin roamed the sidelines of Subaru Park and crafted a spectacular gameplan against rivals New York City FC on Sunday evening. Having the team focus on sound counter attacks they also found success while frustrating the defending MLS Cup Champions with no space in the middle of the park. That combination held last year's golden boot winner ValentÃn Castellanos to just 19 touches through the opening 80 minutes.
Philly owns the longest unbeaten streak in MLS at the moment with nine games unbeaten in league play and have only lost once through the first 16 matchdays.
Curtin has his sights fully focused on on preparing for the Union's quick turnaround with a Wednesday night road trip against the Chicago Fire. Kick off is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on PHL17 and PhiladelphiaUnion.com.
