Philadelphia Union's Kai Wagner made history on Saturday evening as the left back notched his 51st career assist to pass Sebastien Le Toux for the club record.
The German left back achieved the momentuous moment just past the hour mark as the Boys in Blue battled Atlanta United FC. Wagner whipped in a perfectly weighted cross to the top of the 18 to set up a one time blast from homegrown Nathan Harriel that he deposited into the back of the net.
Wagner has been a key piece to the Union's attacking since he arrived in Philadelphia in 2019 and the 27-year-old German left back signed a long-term contract in Philadelphia during the 2023 offseason, and since putting pen to paper, he’s continued to prove just how important he is the team’s success on both ends of the field. With his second half assist to Harriel, Wagner notched his 12th helper of the year which not only leads the team but ranked 12th in MLS play in 2024.
