After scoring another golazo on the road, Philadelphia Union defender Kai Wagner was named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Matchday on Monday afternoon.
The left back was all over the pitch on Saturday night in Colorado, shaking off the altitude to dominate the left side as the Union rolled out a 5-3-2 formation that saw Wagner in an even more aggressive attacking position.
With the Boys in Blue trailing, Wagner helped the squad take control in first half stoppage time as he collected a pass from Carranza who backed down his defender. Seeing space at the top of the box, Carranza tapped a pass backward and right into the run for Wagner who unleashed a left-footed laser from 25-yard out for make It 1-1.
Wagner becomes the sixth different player from the Union to be selected for the league's matchday accolades, joining Julian Carranza (Matchday 1), Daniel Gazdag (Matchday 1 & 8), Jakob Glesnes (Matchday 6), Mikeal Uhre (Matchday 9) and Damion Lowe (Matchday 11).
Forward Julian Carranza was also recognized as part of Team of the Matchday bench for setting up the goal against the Rapids to become join teammates Joaquin Torres (Matchday 3), Uhre (Matchday 4), Kai Wagner (Matchday 9) and Andre Blake (Matchday 11) as members from the Union to receive the honor.
