Know Your Enemy: Toronto FC

The Union head up north this week to take on 2017 MLS Cup Champion Toronto FC this Friday, with kick off is slated for 8:00 p.m. ET on PHL17. The Boys in Blue haven’t seen Toronto since August of 2017, so here’s everything you need to know about Toronto FC:

Team: Toronto FC
Venue: BMO Field
Kick Off: 8:00 p.m. ET
2018 Record: 1-4-1, 4 points, 11th in Eastern Conference
Last Meeting: 3-0 Loss at BMO Field, August 23, 2017
Starting XI From Last Match (4-4-2): Alex Bono; Auro, Gregory van der Wiel, Michael Bradley, Ashtone Morgan; Nicolas Hasler, Ager Aketxe, Jonathan Osorio, Victor Vazquez; Jozy Altidore, Sebastian Giovinco
Player to Watch: Sebastian Giovinco

Toronto has many dangerous players, but no player is quite as dangerous as Sebastian Giovinco. The Italian playmaker has been truly dominant in MLS since coming over from Juventes in 2015. In his debut season in 2015, Giovinco scored 22 goals and added 16 assists. The incredible stats led Giovinco to win MLS MVP in his first year. Since then, Giovinco has been putting up dominant numbers year by year. The “Atomic Ant” warrants plenty of defense. Giovinco is known for his wonderful skill on the ball and his tremendous technical ability. Teams also have to be careful fouling Toronto outside the box, due to Giovinco being known for his unbelievable free kick ability. Philadelphia will need to keep an eye on Giovinco on Friday night.
