After a midweek meeting with Chicago Fire, the Union will hit the road down south this weekend on June 2 as they take on Atlanta United. Kick-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on PHL17. This will be the first time Philadelphia has matched up against Atlanta this season, so here’s everything you need to know:
Team: Atlanta United
Venue: Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Kick Off: 7:30 p.m. ET
2018 Record: 8-3-2, 26 points. First in the Eastern Conference
Last Meeting: 3-0 Philadelphia Union loss at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Sept. 27, 2017
Starting XI From Previous Match: Brad Guzan; Chris McCann, Michael Parkhurst ©, Franco Escobar; Mikey Ambrose, Jeff Larentowicz, Darlington Nagbe, Julian Gressel; Miguel Almirón; Josef MartÃnez, Ezequiel Barco
Player to Watch: Miguel Almirón
Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almirón has not disappointed this season. The Designated Player has recorded six goals and five assists in just 13 games played. In 2017, Almirón notched nine goals and led the team with 14 assists in his first MLS season. Almirón is a dangerous threat to Philadelphia for his ability to play out wide and centrally. He's quick and smart with his movement, whether it’s setting up his teammates for goal scoring opportunities or delivering the goal himself. The Paraguayan International is definitely a key player to watch as the Union head to the peach state this weekend to take on ATL.
