On Saturday, Sebastien Le Toux will be playing for the visiting club in Vancouver.
And he couldn’t be happier.
Le Toux enjoyed his brief stint with the Whitecaps from Jan. 31-July 13, 2012 before moving on to New York.
Now that he’s back with the Philadelphia Union for a second stint, life is good.
The Union travel to Vancouver for a tough match Saturday night and Le Toux will do everything in his power to help his club pick up three points.
“Vancouver was a good experience and I did all I could to help them at the time,” Le Toux said. “Now that I’m back with the Union, I’m excited to go there and try to get three points. I don’t think it will be emotional or anything like that because I wasn’t there all that long. I just tried to be as professional as possible. I felt like I got a new lease on life when I was traded back to the Union. I love Philadelphia and I’m looking forward to this match.”
Le Toux plays as hard as any player in the league, and he’ll continue to hustle in every way imaginable against the Whitecaps.
“I have all good feelings from Vancouver, so all I want to do is play as hard as possible to help us win,” Le Toux said. “I am so thrilled here with the Union as I’ve said many times. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to come back to Philadelphia. It was exactly what I wanted and I know how lucky I am to have that chance. I have enjoyed every minute of being back here with the Union.”
After a 3-1 win over Chivas USA and a scoreless draw against Portland, the Union hope to keep compiling points.
Le Toux is determined to leave Vancouver with points.
“It’s not easy traveling far and getting three points and we’ll have to be concentrated on what we’re doing,” he said. “I’ll see friendly faces who I remember from my time there. There will be time after the game to talk to people. I’m focused on helping our club achieve a goal of getting three points. All my energy will be set on doing that.”
Le Toux still leads the league with nine assists. Whether he registers more assists or scores, it’s winning that matters the most.
“That would be great, but I’ll be just as happy if Conor (Casey), Jack (McInerney) or anyone else gets the stats,” Le Toux said. “I want us to play well and keep our momentum going. Would it be nice to get goals or assists against my former team? Sure. But that’s not the main goal. It’s about winning and points.”
