A stunning rocket off the foot of Matej Oravec locked up a win for Philadelphia Union against Inter Miami CF at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Oravec slammed home a long, swerving shot from outside the box off a rebound following a powerful run by Jack de Vries on the left.
The rest of the match played out in true preseason style as the teams traded punches but rarely produced the quality needed to create chances. Sergio Santos skied a clean look early but soon found redemption by knocking in the opener.
Brenden Aaronson's darting run up the right flank took him inside a defender and a cool, low cross led Santos into the six yard box for a simple finish.
Miami quickly responded with a finely worked goal, and after halftime both teams made copious substitutions and the match became congested.
Jim Curtin continues to test out different lineup combinations and sought to change the point of attack early by putting Olivier Mbaizo at right back and securing the left with Ray Gaddis. Sergio Santos and Kacper Przybylko continued to grow an understanding up front as Santos sought to push the defense deep to create space for his partner.
The Union are back in action on February 19 when they face off against FC Dallas at 12:00PM ET.
