Baribo becomes first Union player to win Player of the Month since 2013

Philadelphia Union forward Tai Baribo was voted the MLS Player of the Month for the months of February and March 2025.

Baribo leads MLS with six goals across the club’s first six matches of the 2025 season, while helping guide Philadelphia to 12 points (4-2-0) through the month of March. The Israeli international scored five goals across the club’s first two matches of the season, including the league’s only hat trick of the season against FC Cincinnati on Matchday 2, becoming the fourth player in MLS history to record at least five matches in a club’s first two games of a season. He joined Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández (2021), Ayo Akinola (2020), and Brian Ching (2006) in accomplishing the feat.

Since the start of June 2024, Baribo has been one of the most dynamic scorers in MLS, tying for the MLS lead with 15 goals over the span. He also leads the league with four multi-score games since June 2024 and is the only MLS player with multiple hat tricks over the span. His six goals through the end of the month of March are the most by a player in club history and two more than the next closest Union player (Dániel Gazdag, four goals in 2024).

The 27-year-old striker becomes the third different Union player to earn Player of the Month honors and the first since Jack McInerney captured back-to-back accolades in April and May 2013. Sébastien Le Toux (September 2011) is the only other Union player to be voted MLS Player of the Month.

Baribo and the Union will kick off their April slate at Subaru Park as they welcome Orlando City SC on Saturday night (7:30 p.m. ET). The Union currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference standings and rank second in the conference with a plus-five goal differential.

MLS Player of the Month is voted upon by a panel of select national media members in a process conducted by MLS Communications.
