Once again Philadelphia Union were represented on the biggest stage as the Union homegrown trio of Brandan Craig, Quinn Sullivan and Jack McGlynn helped the United States to a 3-0 win over Fiji on Tuesday afternoon.
The Union trio created highlights throughout the contest which helped bolster the USYNT to a 2-0 start at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. For the second straight match all three of the Union's homegrowns were in Head Coach Mikey Vara's starting XI with Quinn Sullivan nearly opening the scoring in the 20th minute.
Each member of the Union trio was just shy of scoring in the contest that ultimately went for the Stars and Stripes. In the 90th minute strike, McGlynn and Craig stood over a free kick opportunity from just outside the box. Craig took the quick touch from his teammate and unleashed a left-footed striker that bounced off the post. It’s ricochet, however, set up an easy Caleb Wiley tap-in for the team’s third score of the day.
The U.S. is set to play Slovakia on May 26 in its final meeting of the group stage, with the round of 16 following soon after beginning May 30.
