Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have acquired defender Randy Meneses on loan from Liga Deportiva Universitaria De Quito.
Meneses will remain on loan through 2024 with an option to purchase. The Ecuadorian youth international will be added to Union II’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.
“Randy brings a blend of skill and power to Union II,” said Philadelphia Union II Head Coach, Marlon LeBlanc. “He is a young, talented defender with a proven track record in Ecuador's youth national teams and we feel confident he’ll contribute to the team’s success.”
Meneses, 19, comes to Union II from LigaPro Ecuabet Serie A, Ecuador’s first division, where he played for LDU Quito’s U20 squad since 2021. Prior to joining LDU Quito, Meneses played for CD El Nacional’s U20 squad. Internationally, Meneses has earned five caps (two starts) for Ecuador’s U20 National Team squad, making his debut in an international friendly on June 11, 2022 against Brazil’s U20 squad.
