CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union today announced a new multi-year agreement with Green Mountain Energy (GME), the nation’s longest-serving renewable energy provider.
“We are excited to welcome Green Mountain Energy to the Philadelphia Union family,” said Charlie Slonaker, chief revenue officer at the Philadelphia Union. “Our partnership with GME further solidifies our commitment to sustainability and to making our area a better place for our fans and community.”
Under Green Mountain Energy’s first professional soccer sponsorship, the renewable energy provider will supply power to Subaru Park stadium, Union Power Plant, and the team’s practice facility.
“We believe in solutions that not only benefit the planet, but also benefit the people in our local communities,” said Mark Parsons, vice president and general manager of Green Mountain. “We are grateful for the opportunity to join forces with the Philadelphia Union to advance sustainability.”
Green Mountain Energy and the Philadelphia Union will work together to find ways to enhance sustainability at Subaru Park. In addition, GME will host activations on the plaza and parking lots on gamedays and at youth tournaments throughout the year.
Green Mountain Energy was founded in 1997 with a simple mission: to change the way power is made. By offering only products with an environmental benefit and operating with a zero-carbon footprint, the energy provider remains committed to sustainability every step of the way. Green Mountain offers consumers and businesses the choice of cleaner electricity products from renewable sources, as well as a variety of carbon offset products and sustainable solutions for businesses. Green Mountain customers have collectively helped avoid nearly 100 billion pounds of carbon dioxide emissions, the equivalent of planting more than 11 million trees.
