CHESTER, Pa. (July 5, 2023) – Philadelphia Union announced today that the club has loaned Homegrown Brandan Craig to Austin FC for the remainder of the 2023 season.
In return, the Union acquire Austin’s natural third round pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft and up to $125,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM) if certain performance-based incentives are met.
Craig signed a Homegrown contract with the Union that became effective on January 1, 2021, and made his debut for the club on July 8, 2022, in a 7-0 victory over D.C. United. The former Union Academy player and YSC graduate has also made 24 appearances for Union II in MLS NEXT Pro, scoring two goals, and adding four assists over two seasons.
Internationally, Craig has been a stalwart on the United States Under-20 Men’s National Team, most recently playing in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Making 14 total appearances for the U-20’s, Craig scored his first goal in a friendly against Peru on September 21, 2022.
