Philadelphia Union Receives Golden Matrix Award

Carl and Dan Matrix Award

The Philadelphia Union received the Golden Matrix Award for “The Best Overall Video Display in Soccer” in part of the Information Display and Entertainment Association, IDEA, conference in Seattle, the club announced Friday.
“We are all so proud of our organization for achieving this award. The leadership, collaboration and support within the club have made this possible. Video is an dynamic medium to engage fans, and is an essential part of the PPL Park experience,” Union CEO and Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz said. “The Philadelphia Union is truly proud of the extraordinary work that our team has done to not only win this award, but also adding another step towards bringing us closer to our goal of becoming one of the most admired American soccer brands.”

2015 marked the 33rdyear of the IDEA Conference, an annual gathering that recognizes superior achievement in the large screen and matrix display industry.

The Union defeated participating MLS teams and was also a finalist for the Best Show in Sports award along with the Seattle Mariners, Chicago Blackhawks, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets and the University of Oklahoma.
“We are extremely proud to represent the Union," Union Director of Broadcasting and Video Production Carl Mandell said. “With this accomplishment, we will continue to raise the bar in Major League Soccer and in Philadelphia.”

A Philadelphia team has not won an award in any category since 2008, when the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers won Best Special Occasion Video.
