Philadelphia Union Reopens Subaru Park to Fans in Limited Capacity

CHESTER, Pa. (Oct. 7, 2020) – Philadelphia Union today announced that Subaru Park will be opened to a limited amount of fans on Sunday, October 11 against Montreal Impact, making them the first professional sports team in Philadelphia to open to fans. This announcement comes after the decision from Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf permitting outdoor sports venues to hold 15% capacity, allowing for approximately 2,775 people, including fans, working staff and teams, to be in attendance of Sunday’s game. The Union will have a strict set of safety protocols implemented for each game which were created in consultation with local health officials, Major League Soccer and the league’s health and safety experts.

“Philadelphia Union fans are the heartbeat of this organization and we are thrilled to be able to open the doors of Subaru Park after a long hiatus,” said Philadelphia Union President Tim McDermott. “We appreciate the guidance and support of Governor Wolf and public health officials in making this possible. The health and safety of our fans, players, coaches, and staff is our number one priority. We have worked tirelessly to implement a set of strict guidelines and procedures that will ensure that fans can watch the team they love comfortably and safely.”

All attendees must wear a mask at all times in Subaru Park, except when actively eating or drinking, and will receive a temperature check upon gate arrival. Seats have been spaced out throughout the bowl to allow for six feet of distance in all directions for each seated party. All previous touch points between staff and fans have been eliminated; fans will now arrive with a mobile ticket and parking pass, walk through security metal detectors, and only be able to purchase concessions via credit or debit card. Philadelphia Union’s ticketing plan outlined in an email to fans was developed to enable a limited number of fans to attend Philadelphia Union home matches at Subaru Park in a manner that is as safe as possible, while following government regulations, required health and safety protocols and guidance from medical experts.

Season Ticket Members in the applicable on-sale waves will be eligible to purchase any available location in Subaru Park including locations outside of their current level/price point/location. Any tickets available following the initial Season Ticket Member on-sale wave will then be made available to the general public.

All tickets, and parking passes for originally scheduled 2020 Philadelphia Union regular-season games matches are no longer valid (and corresponding credits or other transactions, as applicable, have been processed) and fans will be prompted to select a pre-paid parking pass when selecting their tickets. No tailgating will be permitted in the Subaru Park parking lots.

This will be the first time that fans will see the Union play at Subaru Park and be able to experience the new features since the stadium naming rights announcement at the beginning of 2020. Most notably, gameday is enhanced by the all-new, high dynamic range (HDR) videoboard and upgraded LED ribbons around the field and bowl.
