Philadelphia Union today unveiled its 2024 “XV” primary kit, featuring the return of the iconic center stripe, originally found on the inaugural kit.
“Union fans have been awaiting the return of the center stripe for many years,” said Shaun Kreider, Philadelphia Union Senior Creative Director. “With 2024 being the club’s landmark 15th season, we felt it only right to revisit the classic design, but with a modern twist. Originally inspired by the trusses of the Commodore Barry bridge that serves as a backdrop to Subaru Park, the XV jersey symbolizes a bridge from the past to the present and the Union’s commitment to bridging the gap between fans and their team with countless initiatives like the Union Creative Collective, who’s input brought this kit to life.”Â
The Union Creative Collective (UCC) was founded in 2019 and consists of season ticket holders, Sons of Ben members, Union super fans, members of the media, and Union employees. For the 2024 “XV” kit, the organization worked with the Union and Adidas to create a modernized, unique take on the center stripe. The group chose to add the Union’s signal blue color to the stipe for this variation, evolving and growing similarly to how the team and league have done the last 15 seasons.  The shapes that create the central design mimic the Union’s typical on-field formation and the kinetic jagged band could be interpreted as snake, river, or lightning bolt, all symbols that have been part of the Union’s branding and story.
Bimbo returns to the jersey as the front-of-kit sponsor. The primary club kits have proudly displayed the Bimbo logo since 2011, while the team’s secondary kit has featured Thomas’, a Bimbo Bakeries USA brand, since 2023. Additionally, a new aspect of the kit is the right sleeve patch, featuring Independence Blue Cross’ (IBX) logo. IBX will have its logo visible on the right sleeve of the Union’s primary and secondary jerseys, as well as any specialty jerseys that are worn by the players during league games. The sleeve patch will exclusively be on jerseys that are worn on-field by Union players and not at retail.
The Art of DOOP 2024 Kit Launch Event will be held on February 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Subaru Park, where art music and soccer meet. Iconic moments in Union history will be on display in art form with performances by a string quartet and an opportunity for fan photos with the Supporters Shield and Eastern Conference Finals trophies. There will also be a live painting being created throughout the day. Fans will have the chance to bid on all the pieces at the event. The “XV” kit is on sale now at MLSStore.com, Fanatics.com, and Adidas.com.
Fans can watch all 2024 Union matches live on MLS Season Pass with the AppleTV app.
