Philadelphia Union Head Coach confirmed during his prematch press conference that when Philadelphia Union take to the pitch at Subaru Park against Deportivo Saprissa on Wednesday night, forward Sergio Santos will be in the matchday roster.
"He's available for selection and as a coach I'm going to select him every time to be part of the 18 because he is so talented," Curtin said.
Santos has missed all of the Union's preseason friendlies recovering from torn ligament in his toe but has been working with the Union's health and performance staff to be back in form. Santos last season had a breakout 2020 campaign, scoring eight goals in just over 1,200 minutes of action.
"It was great to have him back today. Whether we are winning, losing or tied, there is a pretty darn good bet that he'll be on the field at the end of the game so get himself going, get fitness and because we are a better team when he is on the field. To get another striker back is key right now."
Philadelphia Union looks to secure its spot in the Quarterfinals of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League on Wednesday night. Kick off from Subaru Park is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on FS1 and online in Spanish on TUDN EN VIVO.
