After a morning of travel from the City of Brotherly Love to Clearwater, Florida, Philadelphia Union took to the pitch at Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex on Monday evening.
The first official on-field session of the preseason saw the team stretch out their legs and continue to build team chemistry. That will be tested early as the 2024 preseason presented by Cintron will see the Union in five preseason friendlies starting with Brazilian side Clube de Regatas do Flamengo in a FC Series preseason friendly match at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida on Sunday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Tickets for the match can be purchased by clicking here.
During their 10th consecutive preseason visit to Clearwater, the Union will play in four closed door friendlies: Tuesday, January 23 at 6:30 p.m. ET vs. Austin FC (Al Lang Stadium, St. Pete); Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. ET vs. New York City FC (Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex). The team will return to Chester, PA for in-market training from Wednesday, January 31 to Sunday, February 4, before heading back to Clearwater to play their final two preseason friendlies against FC Cincinnati on Friday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. ET (Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex), and New England Revolution on Wednesday, February 14 at 12:00 p.m. ET (Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex).
Following their final preseason friendly on February 14, the Union will depart for Costa Rica in preparation for their match against Deportivo Saprissa on Tuesday, February 20 at 10:00 p.m. ET in the first leg of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup. They will then return home to host Chicago Fire FC on February 24 at 7:30 p.m. ET in their 2024 MLS regular season home opener.
