When Major League Soccer announced its Best XI of the MLS is Back Tournament, Philadelphia Union netted an impressive three of the 11 slots on the squad. While the team reads as a possible MLS All-Star list, what is clear is that the Union's youth movement is clearly working.
Of the 11 players listed, Union homegrowns Mark McKenzie and Brenden Aaronson stood out as the two youngest players on the team. Aaronson, 19, and McKenzie, 21, are nearly a full year younger than the next few players on the squad that included Diego Rossi the tournament's Young Player and Golden Boot Winner.
Both young players were worthy of the accolades with Aaronson collecting three assists including this one that was the PrimePoint Assist of July, while McKenzie shut down opposing offenses with fellow Best XI selection and Golden Glove winner Andre Blake.
