The four Philadelphia Union Homegrowns of Paxten Aaronson, Jack McGlynn, Quinn Sullivan, and Brandan Craig have been making their mark on the U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team as they participate in the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
The U.S. got off to a roaring start in the opener against St. Kitts & Nevis with a 10-0 victory. McGlynn, Sullivan and Aaronson entered in the second half already with the U.S. up 6-0 but that didn't keep Aaronson on the back foot as he bagged a brace in four minutes.
On Monday evening it was a Concacaf rivalry showdown against Canada with all four homegrowns getting the start for U-20s Head Coach Mikey Vargas. Trailing by a goal, McGlynn fired in a golazo like he's done all across his career with a left-footed blast from outside the 18 that burst into the upper 90.
The goal was key one as the match ended level at 2-2 but assured of a berth in the competition’s knockout stage, with Group E’s top three sides advancing. The U.S. will conclude group play on Wednesday when they take on Cuba (8:30 pm ET) for first place in the group and a Round of 16 matchup against Nicaragua.
The competition is an important one for the Stars and Stripes as the Concacaf U-20 Championships serves as qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
