Union II dominant in USL eCup Rocket League debut

Recap_eCup1

Philadelphia Union II began its quest for The USL eCup Rocket League with a dominant victory over Toronto FC II.

Senior Sales Executive and team captain Evan Slabicki took to the sticks to represent Union II and quickly played far above the league's pre-tournament prediction with three goals inside 75 seconds.

The opening match saw a clutch save by Union II half a minute into the match and propelled Slabicki with momentum with three straight goals just over a minute into the opening match.

"Lots of nerves heading into game one but I didn't want to let anyone down," Slabicki told PhiladelphiaUnion.com following the match. "After the first goal I felt totally confident moving forward."

That confidence carried into the result with Union II winning the first best-of-three match by a 5-2 scoreline.

Union II kept the gas on the pedal and racked up more goals early with yet another 3-0 lead 52 seconds into the second contest.

"Early goals are crucial and it lets me play my game without being overly aggressive," the Union II captain said. "It forced TFCII to play aggressive leaving a lot of opening for me to score."

Score he did early and often to claim three points in the standings with a 8-4 victory.
