Philadelphia Union is headed to Music City to take on Nashville SC on Saturday night for their second Eastern Conference matchup this year with the action starting at 8:30PM ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

The showdown at Geodis Park is shaping up to be a competitive one, as Philadelphia Union has momentum built by a two-game win streak, recently besting Portland and Minnesota.

Head Coach Jim Curtin’s squad is also one of only three undefeated teams remaining in the entire league, emerging unscathed from a hectic start to the 2024 campaign which featured four Concacaf Champions Cup matches.

This week, Curtin had another full schedule of training with his squad and to his advantage, he could have all players available for selection should Andre Blake be cleared from concussion protocol.

As for Nashville, Head Coach Gary Smith’s squad hasn’t fared quite as well as the Union picking up just one win in their first six games. Their lone victory came when they defeated Charlotte 2-1 on their home pitch, but in their following match, they 5-0 to LAFC, which was their only loss.  Their other four league matches have finished in draws.

On the attack, senior forward Teal Bunbury and midfielder Hany Muhktar have led the charge. The 34-year-old Canadian has tallied two goals since the season’s start, while Muhktar scored an equalizer then assisted the second goal in their most recent 2-2 draw against Columbus.

Nashville’s team captain Walker Zimmerman picked up a knee injury on March 7th against Inter Miami, and he’s still listed out on Major League Soccer’s injury report. Defenders Lukas MacNaughton and Shaq Moore were listed as well, both questionable with hip listed as the ailment.

Last year, Philadelphia defeated the Southern powerhouse 2-0 courtesy of a run of play goal and a penalty shot from Daniel Gazdag. In their second meeting of the year at Subaru Park, the match finished in a 0-0 draw.
