Philadelphia Union announced it will play Jacksonville Armada FC in a friendly at EverBank Field on Saturday, February 7 at 5:00 p.m.
The preseason match marks Armada FC’s inaugural match as a professional club as it prepares for its first season as members of the North American Soccer League (NASL).
Everbank Field is home to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“We are thrilled to return to Jacksonville to play a preseason exhibition match against Armada FC in its inaugural match as it prepares for its first season in the North American Soccer League,” said Philadelphia Union CEO and operating partner Nick Sakiewicz. “Armada FC owner Mark Frisch has been a great friend to us and we look forward to playing his team at EverBank Field to prepare for the upcoming season.”
“We are excited to have our Jacksonville Armada FC’s first game at EverBank Field to usher in a new era in professional sports,” said Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown. “Hosting this preseason game against a Major League Soccer franchise like Philadelphia Union is a great opportunity to launch Jacksonville’s newest professional sports franchise and continue our efforts to make Jacksonville a premier sports destination."
“We are delighted to be able to announce our inaugural match against Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer to be played here in Jacksonville at EverBank Field on February 7,” said Armada FC owner and CEO Mark Frisch. “We’ve teamed up with the City of Jacksonville to make this match happen and I think that it’s fitting that we kickoff our professional history against a team of the Union’s standing.”
