- Olivier Mbaizo makes his second appearance but first start at outside back for the Union in 2020. Mbaizo's last start came in a 2-0 shutout against FC Cincinnati on May 1, 2019. His previous appearance this season was as a second-half substitute on the road in New England.
- Fellow defender Jakob Glesnes also makes his fifth start of the year.
- Kai Wagner makes both his 35th career start and appearance for the Union.
- Midfielder Jamiro Monteiro's start tonight against D.C. is the 30th of his career for the Boys in Blue.
- Sergio Santos returns to the Starting XI up top alongside Kacper Przybylko. This will be the Brazilian's first MLS start against the club's I-95 rival.
