US Soccer set to join inaugural eNations Cup, represented by eMLS players

eNations2019

The stakes at the upcoming eMLS Cup in Boston have been raised even higher with the announcement from U.S. Soccer that the organization will be part of the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup that will take place on April 13 and 14 in London.

The United States will be represented at the eNations Cup by the top two US-eligible finishers at eMLS Cup meaning the two finalists will represent the Stars and Stripes. If either position is occupied by a player that is ineligible to represent the US, the next highest eligible player based on playoff results will be selected.

This news is huge for Philadelphia Union esports gamer Cormac "Doolsta" Dooley who enters the March 29-30 competition as the hottest competitor on the eMLS circuit after picking up wins at eMLS League Series One in Los Angeles and League Series Two in Dallas. Most recently, the 18-year-old ranks 59th in the world in the latest FIFA 19 Global Series Top 100 rankings.

The eNations Cup is the premier esports competition for FIFA member associations. National teams from across FIFA's six regional confederations will take part in next month's event. The U.S. joins a tournament that includes Argentina, Australia, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa and Sweden.
