Carranza bagged a hat trick against rivals D.C. United early in the month, becoming the fifth player in club history to score three goals in a league match. For his actions, he was named the MLS Player of the Week and along with a spot on the MLS Team of the Week. Last weekend the forward bagged an additional goal and added an assist in the final contest of the month to finish July with four goals and an assist.
Meanwhile Wagner rewrote a pair of records with his own hat trick of assists in the D.C. United match, becoming the sixth player in club history to have three assists in a single match. That was just the start as he collected assists in the Union's wins at Inter Miami CF and Orlando City along with the home clash against the New England Revolution. Wagner's six assists in July are the most by a Union player in a single month in club history.
