The Philadelphia Union midfielder and homegrown player Zach Pfeffer has been selected for the 2015 Chipotle MLS Homegrown Game on July 28 at 9 p.m. at the Dicks Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., the club announced Monday.
The Chipotle Homegrown Game features the best homegrown MLS players and this year they will be under the guidance of Landon Donovan as they face Mexico's Club America U-20 squad.
Pfeffer was the Philadelphia Union’s first homegrown player, signing with the club on December 22, 2010 at the age of 15. With this deal, Pfeffer became the fourth youngest player to sign a MLS contact.
The midfielder scored his first goal for the Union on ÂÂÂÂOct. 26, 2014 during the 2-1 defeat against the Columbus Crew SC. Since then, Pfeffer has gone on to score two more goals including the game-winning goal against D.C. United on May 17, 2015.
Pfeffer has played 27 games with the Union, with 18 of those games coming from this season. Aside from MLS play, Pfeffer has received call-ups to the U.S. U-20 and U-23 national teams.
