Major League Soccer has announced details for the first eMLS event of 2019, with the eMLS League Series One presented by PlayStation officially set to take place in Southern California on Jan. 22.
The competition will feature Union eSports gamer Doolsta and 21 other professional FIFA gamers from across North America who represent an MLS team, as they kick off their quest for FIFA glory and a shot at eMLS Cup in March.
Fans will be able to attend the event, which will take place at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California, with doors opening at 5:30 pm PT, and can register to attend here.
In addition to being a part of the audience for the live stream of the competition, fans in attendance will be able to meet LA Galaxy players, receive exclusive merchandise, create customized eMLS LA Galaxy apparel, and create personal FIFA Ultimate Team cards. Refreshments will also be available, as fans can enjoy offerings from a food truck and enjoy some beers as they take in the experience.
Fans outside unable to attend will be able to watch the event via live stream. Be sure follow @eMLS for the latest details for this event, as well as eMLS League Series Two (set to take place in Dallas in February), eMLS Cup and more.
eMLS is entering its second season, with the Houston Dynamo's Kid M3mito (Guillermo Trevino) looking to defend his title. The 2019 season has seen three more MLS teams sign professional gamers to compete in an expanded competition.
The eMLS League Series events – which will feature the full roster of eMLS players – will help determine the seeding for eMLS Cup presented by PlayStation in March. In turn, eMLS Cup participants will earn points for the EA SPORTS Global Series Playoffs, which give gamers a chance to qualify for the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup.
