Due to issues relating to his work visa Philadelphia Union forward Cory Burke will be unavailable for an extended period of time, Sporting Director Ernst Tanner announced Friday morning.
Burke missed the previous two matches against Vancouver Whitecaps FC and FC Cincinnati due to personal issues that forced his return to Jamaica. Tanner stressed that the 27-year-old is safe with his family at home and is not in trouble with law in either the United States or Jamaica but will not be allowed to re-enter the U.S. until his visa issues are resolved.
Due to those visa issues, Burke will not count against the Union’s roster and will not occupy an international spot. Tanner emphasized that the club is happy with its available options up front and will continue to look for new pieces that can help the squad in upcoming transfer windows.
