Despite allowing a pair of goals to Javier Hernandez, Philadelphia Union maintained its unbeaten FIFA 20 simulation record thanks to the late heroics from substitute Andrew Wooten.
The west coast visitors took the lead early in the contest as Hernandez finished off a near post run with a header that snuck inside the post. The Boys in Blue fought back with a tying goal 11 minutes later as Sergio Santos rifled a threaded ball to Jamiro Monteiro.
The Union came out of the halftime break on the front foot and it paid dividends as captain Alejandro Bedoya found a hole in the Galaxy and smashed in a right-footed effort.
While the Galaxy eventually equalized via another headed goal from Hernandez, the Boys in Blue took advantage of the eager California squad late in the contest that netted the winner. With the contest tied at 2-2, the Galaxy pushed its team forward looking to steal a win but the Union were able to clear the service and start on the counter attack. Brenden Aaronson provided the precise forward volley, seeing a wide open Wooten racing from midfield to the Galaxy goal. Collecting the pass from the Union homegrown, Wooten needed only to beat the keeper and succeeded to push the Union to the 3-2 victory.
