While fans were still settling in for Philadelphia Union's late night contest against Inter Miami CF, defender Kai Wagner saw an opportunity and he took it to give the squad the lead in the fifth minute of play.
The goal was eerily similar to another scoring chance for the German right back that came against goalkeeper Luis Robles. That shot came against the rival Red Bulls last season but saw stopped by the veteran goalkeeper. On Tuesday night the result tilted in Wagner's favor.
"It was a little bit of a harder shot and more to the corner of the goal but I think it might have taken a touch but it was also much faster than last time,” Wagner said. "It was a great action from Brenden [Aaronson] and I think it was a little bit lucky that it came through all the guys. I was screaming to Miro to just leave the ball and I just tried to hit it into the corner and I think it was a great rocket.”
