Philadelphia Union homegrown defender Mark McKenzie's strong defensive performance not only helped his team to a point against Orlando City SC but also earned him MLS Team of the Week Honors that were announced on Friday afternoon.
McKenzie led a strong defense with Andre Blake behind him with three tackles, three clearances, an interception while also completing nearly 89% of his passes on Monday night.
McKenzie becomes the third Union player to earn Team of the Week honors at the MLS is Back Tournament, joining goalkeeper Andre Blake who earned the accolade after a seven-save performance against New York City FC in the Group A opener and Brenden Aaronson who had the game-winning assist against Inter Miami CF.
Philadelphia Union squares off against the New England Revolution in the MLS is Back Knockout Stage presented by Audi on Saturday, July 25th. Kick off from the ESPN Wide World of Sports is set for 10:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
