CHESTER, Pa. (May 30, 2019) – Bethlehem Steel FC announced today that it has started a reading program with Delaware County Libraries. The Steel FC Reading Program will begin on June 1 and run through August 31, 2019 and also serves as a fundraiser for all Delaware County Libraries. Kids participating in the program will have the opportunity to earn tickets to all remaining Steel matches at Talen Energy Stadium through September.

“We are happy to start a new reading program and to find a willing and large partner to help get it going in 2019,” said Steel Director of Business Operations Tim Seidler. “Not only will this give kids the opportunity to earn a free ticket to a Steel match and get to know future Union players, but also encourage kids in the community to continue reading and support their local libraries.”

Steel FC Reading Program cards are available in all 28 Delaware County libraries. For every 45 minutes spent reading, kids color in or check off a soccer ball on the front of the card. Once all 11 soccer balls are colored in or checked off, the cards can be returned to any Delaware County library in exchange for a promo code redeemable online for one free ticket to a Bethlehem Steel FC match.

“We’re excited to partner with Bethlehem Steel FC to offer residents of Delaware County the opportunity to read during the summer and enjoy a family friendly environment with discounted tickets to a Steel FC game,” said Delaware County Libraries Youth Service Coordinator Cheri Crow.
