The first half was an offensive battle with both teams having four shots, despite the half remaining scoreless. Union II midfielder Jeremy Rafanello scored the first goal of the game in the 56th minute with a shot from outside of the box. In the 83rd minute, Antony Curic found the back of the net to tie the game, leading the match to be decided by a shootout. Philadelphia Union II scored two shots in the shootout, losing the extra point to Toronto who converted four.
