Lineup notes

Philadelphia Union II's first starting lineup comprised of eight Homegrowns -- Andrew Rick opened the season in net, protected by a backline featuring Isaiah LeFlore, Neil Pierre, Nathan Harriel, and Gavin Wetzel.

David Vazquez, Nick Pariano, CJ Olney, and Cavan Sullivan made up the midfield, while Eddy Davis III and new signing Stas Korzeniowski were paired up top.

In his first match as head coach, Ryan Richter used four subs, replacing Korzeniowski and Davis in the 68th minute with Sal Olivas and Leo Soria, Sullivan with Zach Mastrodimos in the 78th, and CJ Olney with Giovanny Sequera for in the 90th.

How The Match Unfolded

Neither side was able to find a season-opening goal throughout the end of regulation, despite 17 shots from Philadelphia.

Union II held the Revs to just five total shots, but the hosts most promising chance came late in the match when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 89th minute.

Goalkeeper Andrew Rick was the hero, diving to get a hand on the shot for a crucial stop. The match went to a shootout soon after, but despite three makes from Sal Olivas, Nick Pariano, and Neil Pierre, it wasn't enough to overcome New England, who finished with four.
