After he helped lead Philadelphia Union II to an unbeaten start in 2024, Union Academy forward Eddy Davis III has been named MLS NEXT Pro Co-Rising Star of the Month, the league announced on Thursday morning.
Davis III kicked off his second season with Union II in a big way, scoring a pair of key goals that saw the Boys in Blue go 2-0-1 in March. In the season opener, Davis was rewarded for his strong defensive effort to intercept a clearance from Toronto FC II's keeper inside the 18. A quick move later set up the Union Academy forward’s first-ever MLS NEXT Pro goal to make it 2-1 in favor of Union II.
After leading the team with five shots and three on target in their second match, Davis III delivered Union II's game-tying goal in the 71st minute at Chicago Fire II to continue the club's unbeaten start. The effort from the 17-year-old netted him MLS NEXT Rising Star of Matchweek 3.
The award is Union II's fourth time a player has won the league's Rising Star of the Month with Davis joining teammate David Vazquez (April 2023) and former Academy player Luciano Sanchez (June and July 2023).
Union II is back in action on Thursday, April 11th when they host Orlando City B. Kick off from Subaru Park is set for 4PM ET.
