CHESTER, Pa. (May 10, 2019) – Bethlehem Steel FC (3-4-2) returns to Talen Energy Stadium as it looks to start its three-match home stand off on the right foot against Atlanta United 2 (3-5-1).
Steel FC comes into this contest on the back of a 3-3 draw against Loudoun United at Audi Field last Friday night. The Steel are still in 10th place in the Eastern Conference following a week of USL Championship play, with Atlanta trailing the hosts in 13th. The Steel will likely see either Tomás Romero or Kris Shakes of the Philadelphia Union Academy in net for a second-straight match, as Philadelphia Union goalkeepers Andre Blake and Matt Freese continue to recover from injuries.
The two teams have similar records entering the match on Sunday, but have slightly different styles. Atlanta likes to maintain possession and attack wide from the wings and end lines, while the Steel prefer a pressing style of play that takes their attacks through whichever avenue is open to them. Despite Atlanta United 2 wanting to hold the majority of possession in all their matches, they have lost almost all of their games in which they’ve held close to 60% and gained two of their three wins with close to 40% possession or below. If the visitors maintain possession for extended periods of time, look for the Steel to have options on the counter attack.
Bethlehem Steel FC takes on Atlanta United 2 at Talen Energy Stadium on Sunday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. ET. Tickets are available here with the match set to be broadcast on ESPN+.
