Philadelphia Union II announced today that they have acquired midfielder Giovanny Sequera on loan from Metropolitanos F.C.
Sequera will remain on loan through 2024 with an option to purchase and will be added to Union II’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.
“We’re excited to welcome Giovanny to the squad,” said Philadelphia Union II Head Coach, Marlon LeBlanc. “He’s a box-to-box midfielder with good speed and the potential to make an immediate impact. We look forward to his contributions.”
Sequera, 18, joins Union II from Liga FUTVE, Venezuela’s top tier league, where he played for Metropolitanos F.C. since 2023. During his time with the team, the Venezuelan midfielder made four league appearances and participated in two Copa Libertadores matches. Internationally, Sequera has earned 10 caps for Venezuela’s U17 National Team, including seven appearances in the U17 South American Championship, one international friendly, and two appearances in the 2023 U17 World Cup where he contributed with an assist against New Zealand’s U17 squad on November 12, 2023.
